Who is Daniel Chai?
Despite wanting to play guitar since he was 10 years old and practicing verociously, Daniel managed to muster enough energy and time to bag a non music Bachelor of Arts honors degree from the National University of Singapore.
 
He did eventually get to study music at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and collected a few awards along the way.

One of the 1st call guitar players in Singapore for concerts, musicals and recordings, Daniel has toured and worked with Stefanie Sun, Angela Zhang, FIR, Jeff Chang, Corrinne May, Iskandar Ismail, A Mei, Sandy Lam, Olivia Ong, JJ Lin, Eric Moo, Tanya Chua, Dick Lee, Glen Goei, Francis Yip, Ramli Sarip as well as The Singapore Symphonic Orchestra among many many others.

Daniel has produced, arranged and written music for TV sitcoms, mini-series and telemovies. And his session and production work has ranged from indie artistes like Becka and Ling Kai to Chinese pop stars like Ado and Kit Chan. Daniel is proud to have also arranged songs by the big 3 Singapore giant songwriters Liang Wern Fook, Li Feihui and Chen Jia Ming. Daniel runs Daniel's room - a cosy recording studio out of his home.
 
Daniel has worked on over 60 musical theatre productions including Godspell, They’re Playing our Song, HONK!, productions by Dream Academy including Company, Crazy Christmas and Dim Sum Dollies shows and Wildrice’s La Cage and many of their pantomimes. Some other notable theatre credits include Toy Factory’s December Rains, 881 and Glass Anatomy, SRT’s Fried Rice Paradise, Vizpro’s The Rocky Horror Show and Pangdemonium’s Spring Awakening , Next to Normal, RENT and Fun Home. Also notable are Sing’Theatre’s Jacque Brel, A Singaporean in Paris and French Kiss in Singapore. And also BASE Entertainment Asia/Disney’s The Lion King and the classic A Chorus Line.

He has been in resident bands for Singapore Idol, Don't Forget the Lyrics, Live the Dream and Suria’s Konsert Solo and Anugerah Planet Music series. And he has been involved in various national level projects like Singapore Day in Melbourne, Spotlight Singapore in Moscow and ChildAid in Singapore. Daniel has also played big band at jazz festivals in Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
 
Daniel feels blessed to be playing music and hopes he is able to bring a little joy to the world.
